Etotama: Nyankyakubanrai Blu-ray + CD

Etotama returns with a completely new short story on Blu-ray. The 2015 television anime, made under Shirogumi’s executive production and promoted as “Japan’s noisiest anime,” brought together girls, battles and everyday life in a story about the twelve zodiac signs and one cat.

Long ago, the god of the Land of the Rising Sun held a festival to choose twelve divine messengers to protect the newborn land. The zodiac girls chosen as its guardians have watched over it ever since, alongside the cat who was not selected. Months have passed since ETM12, the zodiac-god selection festival held every sixty years, ended and the two-thousand-year feud between cat and mouse was, more or less, settled.

Returning from a worldwide tour of Solral battles, Nya-tan takes advantage of Takeru’s school trip to do as she pleases amid the zodiac gods’ usual noisy company. Then the mysterious zodiac girl Naa-tan appears. She openly adores Nya-tan like an older sister, bewildering the others. Delighted and thoroughly carried away, Nya-tan quickly becomes her friend. Before long, everyone welcomes their new housemate as they wait, as boisterously as ever, for Takeru to return.

One day at Takeru’s house, the zodiac gods sense an unusual change in the world. Chu-tan suddenly descends from the sky with an ominous warning: “The seal is about to break…” Naa-tan is in fact a divine messenger entrusted with a mission that even she has forgotten.

The four-part story comprises three audio dramas followed by an animated conclusion. Extras include a previously unreleased audio drama, the creditless opening and an Etotama Pretty Theater short. An ending-theme CD featuring “blue moment — Nya-tan & Naa-tan Version” and a 22-page special booklet are also included.
