Neon Genesis Evangelion Anime

Evangelion Full Complete brings together the Neon Genesis Evangelion television series, its theatrical films and the Rebuild cycle in a 28-disc collection containing 24 Blu-rays and four 4K UHD Blu-rays. Acrylic-case packaging and Digipaks are accompanied by a 232-page Rebuild booklet and a 176-page Neon Genesis booklet. Its listed running time is 64 hours and 52 minutes across all discs, including alternate versions and supplements.

Hideaki Anno leads the film project, with Megumi Ogata, Megumi Hayashibara, Yuko Miyamura, Maaya Sakamoto and Kotono Mitsuishi among the principal Japanese voice performers. Shiro Sagisu composes the music.

The Rebuild films are presented in all of the versions included in this collection. "YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE." appears as 1.0, 1.01 and 1.11 on Blu-ray, with 1.11 also on 4K UHD Blu-ray. "YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE." appears as 2.0 and 2.22 on Blu-ray, with 2.22 also on UHD. "YOU CAN (NOT) REDO." appears as 3.0, 3.33 and 3.333 on Blu-ray, with 3.333 also on UHD; the 3.0 and 3.33 discs include the theatrical version of "Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo." "THRICE UPON A TIME" appears as 3.0+1.0, 3.0+1.01 and 3.0+1.11 on Blu-ray, with 3.0+1.11 also on UHD.

The film presentations trace the works from theatrical release through their revised home-video forms. The 1.0 presentation comes from an HD transfer of its film master, while 1.01 uses its digital master. The 1.11 and 2.22 UHD presentations are made from the HD masters and use BT.709 colour. The 3.333 UHD uses the IMAX-remastered presentation, and the 3.0+1.11 UHD follows the IMAX-mastering specification; both use SDR with the wider BT.2020 colour space. UHD discs require compatible UHD playback equipment.

The ten-disc Neon Genesis section contains all 26 television episodes, plus the video-format versions of episodes 21-24. Its film discs present "Death and Rebirth," "The End of Evangelion" and "Revival of Evangelion," the latter combining DEATH(TRUE)2 with Air and Magokoro wo, Kimi ni. Two further discs preserve supplementary material.

Three Rebuild special discs include "Explanation of EVANGELION:1.01" and an extensive supplement collection. Additional material covers the museum-exhibition version of "Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo," its miniature-effects making-of documentary, its effects-technique feature, "KYOSHINHEI 2012" and "EVA-EXTRA 05," alongside the "Beautiful World" and "Sakura Nagashi" music videos. Dialogue scripts accompany versions 1.01, 1.11, 2.22, 3.33, 3.333, 3.0+1.01 and 3.0+1.11.

The supplements include Tadashi Hiramatsu's 2014 short "until You come to me. -The Concerted fragments by Tatsuya Kushida's Esquisse and music-," "Rebuild of EVANGELION:3.0 (-46h)" and the March 28, 2021 thank-you stage greeting for Thrice Upon a Time. The stage event features Megumi Ogata, Megumi Hayashibara, Yuko Miyamura, Kotono Mitsuishi, Yuriko Yamaguchi, Akira Ishida, Fumihiko Tachiki, Tetsuya Iwanaga, Junko Iwao, Miki Nagasawa, Hiro Yuki, Mariya Ise, Anri Katsu and Koichi Yamadera.

Material for the first film includes "Explanation of EVANGELION:1.01," "Rebuild of EVANGELION:1.01" and the "Angel of Doom" promotional video. The second film is accompanied by "Rebuild of EVANGELION:2.02," the NOGUCHI version of the "I Would Give You Anything" scene and "EVA-EXTRA 08." For Q, the collection includes "Rebuild of EVANGELION:3.33," Mahiro Maeda's image boards, "Works in Progress," production materials for the version 3.0 next-film preview, unused previews and "EVANGELION:3.333 Breakdown."

The Thrice Upon a Time supplements comprise "Rebuild of EVANGELION:3.0+1.11," the revised trailer prepared for Q:3.333, social-media and character promotion reels, "Current Evangelion," messages made for Friday Road SHOW! and the Shin Evangelion All Night Nippon radio programme, the hit-release stage greeting, the trailer for the 4D versions of the first three films, and "EVANGELION:3.0 (-46h)" and "EVANGELION:3.0 (-120min.)." Teasers, trailers, television spots, follow-up trailers and omitted scenes are joined by the Complete Blu-ray Box television spot, promotion reel and character promotion reel.

The Neon Genesis archive adds 30-second previews for episodes 1-20, film trailers and television spots, 22 soundtrack selections mixed in 5.1, the full "Musunde Hiraite" recording and auditions by Megumi Hayashibara, Yuko Miyamura, Kotono Mitsuishi, Yuriko Yamaguchi and Fumihiko Tachiki. Further material includes the video versions of Air and Magokoro wo, Kimi ni, clean opening and ending sequences, image boards, Genesis 0:0 IN THE BEGINNING and Genesis 0:0' THE LIGHT FROM THE DARKNESS, the episode 26 live-action rush edit, filming footage and an alternate final dialogue. Archived advertisements cover the series, its theme single, Genesis 0:0, 0:1, 0:4 and 0:7 video releases, the Sega Saturn game, Newtype March 1996, Shonen Ace April 1996 and two offline film spots. Music clips include "A Cruel Angel's Thesis," "FLY ME TO THE MOON," "Tamashii no Refrain," "THANATOS - IF I CAN'T BE YOURS," "ARMAGEDDON" and "Tengoku no Kioku," plus the Blu-ray box promotional video. Dubbing workprints cover episodes 9, 15, 18-26, REBIRTH and part of Air.

Japanese subtitles and Japanese audio are provided. Rebuild versions 1.01, 1.11, 2.0 and 2.22 use Dolby TrueHD 6.1 and Linear PCM stereo; 1.0, 3.0, 3.33 and 3.333 use PCM 5.1 and stereo. The three Thrice Upon a Time versions add a Japanese PCM audio-description option to PCM 5.1 and stereo. Neon Genesis audio is PCM 5.1 and stereo where specified, with Death and Rebirth in PCM stereo; archive audio varies by item.
