Fictional Stage Bokoku no Waltz Blu-ray

A fictional Japan reflects uncomfortable realities. This thrilling chamber drama searches for a spy hidden among revolutionaries. Fierce exchanges of dialogue turn conversation into a matter of life and death, as souls clash under extreme conditions.

Story: In an age when a Self-Defence Army protects “Japan,” some want to preserve the armed force for national independence, while others demand its dissolution in accordance with the pacifist constitution. With the Olympics approaching, public opinion is divided in two.

Six revolutionaries worried about the state of the world gather in an abandoned lounge. Their objective is to kidnap the prime minister. They carry out the operation with unwavering determination.

A few hours later, the prime minister and the prime minister’s partner sit bound in the lounge. The mission has succeeded by the thinnest of margins—but there is a traitor among the six.

They now have two tasks: pass judgement on the prime minister and find the traitor. Lies and truth intertwine. Who is really telling the truth? This is a story of “war” born within fiction.

The recording presents the April 2021 stage production. Its video extra is the closing performance’s curtain call.
