Fool’s Blues Standard Blu-ray

The man loved the city, women and films. Thirty years later... why does the director once called legendary no longer make movies?

Daikon, played by Masaya Kato, directed a legendary film thirty years ago but is now a man of the past. He lives an empty life supported by Tamako, played by Asami Kumakiri, who works in an adult entertainment salon. One day her former partner appears, saying, “Don't think you can get away from me.” Daikon and Tamako flee to a strip theater in Hiroshima run by a junior from his university days.

The manager, played by Yuji Yokoyama, warmly welcomes them and arranges for them to live backstage. Their personalities also win over the friends who live in the entertainment district. Warm and satisfying days continue, but their relationships begin falling apart after Daikon becomes involved with a stripper, played by Haruka Kohara.

“You're far too pathetic. Stay the man we always admired. Why have you become such a worthless person?” Daikon cannot properly face the manager's rebuke. Tamako, who gently watches the inner conflict of this filmmaker reduced to a kept man, also has a horrific past she cannot tell anyone. What future awaits these fools who stumble awkwardly through life...?

The cast features Masaya Kato, Asami Kumakiri, Yuji Yokoyama, Kokone Sasaki, Haruka Kohara, Yoko Yazawa, Ryuji Sainei, Nocchi, Takashi Nishina and Hikari Ota of Bakusho Mondai, with special appearances by Mie and Mariko Tsutsui.
