Kaede Ikushima works for a flower-gift company, while Jun Ichinose runs a dry-cleaning shop. Their fateful meeting was two years ago, and they are approaching the first anniversary of living together. Their life is ordinary but happy, and people around them are beginning to talk about marriage. Yet whenever the subject comes up, both look uneasy: each is lying to the other.

Kaede has told Jun that she has no family. In fact, her mother Suzuko runs the well-known Blanc Forest hotel group, and Kaede is her only daughter. Hating her cold-hearted mother’s determination to control everything, Kaede left home three years earlier, cut ties with her family and began a new life, even keeping the truth from the man she loves.

One day, news arrives that Kaede’s supposedly nonexistent mother has died. With her lie exposed, Kaede tells Jun about the rift between them. He does not blame her and accompanies her to the family home to mourn Suzuko, but an unexpected sight awaits them there. As the lies they carry and the truths behind them come to light, cracks spread through their relationship and they wander into a forest of mistrust. If the person you love has a face you have never seen, can you go on trusting and loving them?
