映画 銀河鉄道999 THE MOVIE 4KリマスターBOX 初回生産限定
Galaxy Express 999 The Movie 4K Remastered Box — Limited Production Edition
The theatrical Galaxy Express 999 films, masterpieces in Japanese animation history, open the door to a new viewing experience. A 5K scan and 4K HDR remaster create a new theatrical 999 with vivid images and three-dimensional sound. This deluxe Box also includes reproduced scripts and storyboards for both films.
The information in the original 35 mm master-positive film is vividly reproduced through 5K scanning and 4K HDR remastering. Not only the characters' colours, but the art and background details originally captured on film, and scenes previously too dark to see clearly, return with richer expression. Watch the luminous galaxy, the 999 travelling through it and the lighting effects.
Image restoration The 35 mm master-positive film was scanned at 5K resolution and remastered in 4K HDR, with dust removal and grain reduction. This brings out the film's high-definition information and gives the characters, artwork, backgrounds and formerly dark scenes a richer range of expression. The details of the black locomotive become visible, while the sparkling galaxy and the 999 travelling through it, the luminous streets and the light from the Arcadia's cannon offer a fresh experience of these romantic images.
The original theatrical Galaxy Express 999 was released in mono. The Atmos version expands that material further. The snowstorm and action scenes gain overhead sound, and the Arcadia and Emeraldas fly past above the viewer.
The history of theatrical Galaxy Express 999 The manga began in Shonen King in 1977. The television anime started on Fuji TV in 1978 and reached a peak audience rating of 22.8%. The first theatrical film opened in August 1979. Its team brought together director Rintaro, animation director Kazuo Komatsubara, art specialists Takashi Mukuo and Tadao Kubota, and animators including Yoshinori Kanada and Kazuhide Tomonaga. The appearances of Captain Harlock, Tochiro and Emeraldas also attracted considerable attention. The film brought its story to an ending before the manga and television versions had concluded; Tetsuro and Maetel's farewell remains legendary. Godaigo's theme song became a popular hit, reaching number two on the Oricon singles chart, while the Symphonic Poem Galaxy Express 999 album reached number one. Distributor revenue of 1.65 billion yen made it the highest-grossing Japanese film by that measure in 1979. At the third Japan Academy awards in 1980 it received the Special Award and Popularity Award, becoming a social phenomenon extending beyond anime.
