GAMERA Rebirth Blu-ray Box

In the summer of 1989, sixth graders Boko, Joe and Junichi face their final elementary-school vacation with uneasy thoughts about the future. When Brody, the son of a US military commander stationed in Japan, steals their shared savings, they plan to take the money back. Before they can act, Gyaos attacks Tokyo. Trapped amid the destruction and targeted by the creature, the four children are saved by the arrival of Gamera. Their summer becomes a succession of monster attacks as the wounded guardian continues fighting to protect them.

Boko is kindhearted but often needs looking after himself; Joe, his friend since first grade, is a tough and dependable protector. Junichi is an unapologetic enthusiast of science fiction, military subjects and the occult. Brody, whose mother is Japanese, is a talented school football player whose behavior has recently become increasingly troublesome. Their voices are provided by Hisako Kanemoto, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Aki Toyosaki and Subaru Kimura. Mamoru Miyano plays Tazaki, a third-generation Japanese American agent of the Eustace Foundation, and Saori Hayami voices his assistant Emiko.

Director Hiroyuki Seshita and deputy director Keisuke Ide lead ENGI's 3D animated production. Kenta Ihara, Hiroshi Seko and Seshita develop the series composition, with Tetsuya Yamada also contributing scripts. Atsushi Tamura designs the characters, Miki Takahama designs the kaiju, and Naoya Tanaka and Ferdinando Patulli oversee production design, with mechanical designs by Takehiko Hoashi. Miwa Iwanami directs the sound and Shuji Katayama composes the score. WANIMA supplies Natsuake and the ending theme FLY & DIVE.

The four-disc Blu-ray box includes the series and the twelve-episode NHK broadcast re-edit, commercial and promotional videos, and previsualization footage. Its packaging comprises a box newly illustrated by Miki Takahama, designed digipaks and a special booklet. The set contains approximately 536 minutes of main content plus video extras. Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio is provided, with no subtitles.
