Grand Blue Premium Edition Blu-ray

Winter is festival season too, with Grand Blue! The hugely popular comic, with more than 5.55 million copies in circulation, finally receives an unexpected live-action film adaptation. Packed with gags, this uproarious entertainment goes all out with its outrageous stripping comedy.

The hit manga Grand Blue, serialised in Kodansha’s good! Afternoon, finally comes to life on screen. Overwhelming absurdity and unprecedented laughter await in a comedy unlike anything seen before. Its startling opening sends the protagonist sprinting naked across campus, earning the original author’s enthusiastic reaction: “Who told you to go this far?”

The Premium Edition is packed with special footage. A newly filmed visual commentary lets viewers revisit selected scenes now that spoilers are fair game. Making of Grand Blue combines behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, alongside deleted scenes, event footage from the Premium Summer Festival and the Release Commemorative Eve Festival, promotional videos and trailers.

A blue sea, the sound of the waves and blazing sunshine: Iori enters a university on an island, an unusual setting in Japan, with just one goal. He wants a sparkling college life with friends he gets along with and cute girls. Yet something is wrong. He first notices it on the morning of orientation, when he wakes outside the university auditorium with neither clothes nor any memory of what happened.

Before long, he meets Kohei, a needlessly handsome anime enthusiast who has suffered the same fate. Together, they arrive at a place where common sense means nothing: a lawless zone otherwise known as an outrageously wild diving club!

A fierce cousin who hides her affection behind a cool exterior, an older sister completely obsessed with her younger sister, a provocative senior, and even a girl with wildly overdone makeup!? “God, please let us have normal college lives!” Surrounded by these outrageous members, what fate awaits Iori and Kohei?
