Griffin's Balance is Aogachou's first collection of fantasy artwork. Dragons, griffins and winged horses draw on the artist's study of living and extinct creatures, with attention to bones, joints and muscles. Mythology and fairy tales meet a view of nature that can be tender, harsh and grotesque.
A newly created illustrated story opens the book, followed by original works accompanied by the artist's writing. The commercial section includes role-playing, online and card-game visuals, work for a crowdfunded story project, book covers and publication illustrations.
A conversation with manga artist Ryo Sumiyoshi, moderated by illustrator Koji, is accompanied by a contributed illustration. Published by Genkosha, this Japanese-language artbook contains 128 pages.
