hide TRIBUTE IMPULSE CD
hide TRIBUTE IMPULSE
Released in 2018, twenty years after hide’s death, hide TRIBUTE IMPULSE forms part of the hide 20th Memorial Project and presents the brilliance of his music from fresh perspectives.
Artists from hide’s own generation who knew him during his lifetime join younger bands that experienced his music as it appeared and made its excitement part of their own musical identity. They stand alongside a new generation who discovered him later, yet were deeply moved and influenced by a spirit that reaches beyond its time.
As wide-ranging as hide’s music itself, these artists and bands express its freedom, dynamism, stimulation, enjoyment and the essential pleasures of rock.
The album also includes an unreleased alternate vocal recording of HURRY GO ROUND. It was discovered during production of the documentary of the same name, when an interview with I.N.A. led the film team to hear an old demo. Moved by the rawness of the voice, they asked to use it; I.N.A. subsequently revisited the recording files and found the previously unnoticed hide vocal Take2.
The recording had remained unheard for twenty years. Its discovery came just before completion of the tribute album, and none of the participating artists had chosen HURRY GO ROUND. It became the documentary’s theme and was also included here so that more listeners could hear hide’s rediscovered performance.
