Thirty-five years after the Battle of Sekigahara, Japan's fragile peace is threatened by man-eating creatures known as Gun-kyou. The shogunate secretly sends extermination squads to burn the monsters and affected settlements, concealing the outbreak. In Tago-juku, Orin hides her past as a shinobi while working for the physician Genzaburo and raising Toki, a daughter who is not related to her by blood. A journey to obtain medicine for Toki takes her into an infected village, where a terrifying encounter revives memories she had hoped to bury. Her struggle to protect the girl becomes a desperate journey through a collapsing world.

Elsewhere, Shiro has become a Gun-kyou but retained his human consciousness. Feared and imprisoned, with no memory of his past, he searches for someone who may reveal his identity. Fumino Kimura and Juri Tanaka lead this historical survival thriller, supported by Sora Tamaki, Takuya Nishimura, Reina Kurosaki, Yorie Yamashita, Kenichi Yajima, Mitsuomi Takahashi, Kazuhiko Kanayama, Nagi Nagai, Moeka Hoshi, Eriko Sato, Ryuta Muro, Mari Hamada, Yoshimasa Kondo, Yasuko Tomita, Katsumi Takahashi and Koji Yamamoto.

The three-disc set contains all six episodes, running 288 minutes, and 110 minutes of extras. Interviews and making-of material cover Kimura and Tanaka's final filming day, the main cast's wrap and interviews, and the action and sword-fighting sequences. Roundtable discussions bring Kimura, Tanaka and director Young Paul together, including a conversation about their love of zombies and the story. Further discussions revisit notable scenes in two parts and explore the production's zombies and Gun-kyou. A completion announcement event and promotional spots are also included.
