I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons Animation

A bride-to-be desperate to break off her engagement faces a prince determined to marry her in this lively, heart-fluttering romantic comedy. The popular series comes to television animation after surpassing three million copies in circulation and placing second in the noble-lady category and fourth overall in the 2021 pixiv Comic rankings.

Haruka Shiraishi, known for Asirpa in Golden Kamuy and the Princess in ’Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess, voices Leticia, who wants to escape the engagement. Jun Fukuyama, whose roles range from Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion to Ango Sakaguchi in Bungo Stray Dogs, plays Prince Clarke and also performs the opening theme. Wataru Hatano, Shun Horie, Shunichi Toki and the rest of the cast bring comic energy to the high-spirited romantic chaos.

Betrothed to Prince Clarke of the Kingdom of Astar, Leticia has endured strict training to become a princess since childhood. What she really wants is to fish, climb trees and live freely. Hoping the engagement will be called off, she is delighted to see Clarke escorting an unfamiliar woman at a ball. She eagerly announces their separation—but Clarke has not given up on marrying her.

Leticia wants freedom from princess lessons, while Clarke keeps following her and expressing his love with unwavering sincerity. Their opposing wishes set off a hectic romantic battle: a prospective princess who wants to end the engagement versus a prince who wants a wedding.

Part 1 collects episodes one to six. It includes a newly written story by original author Izumi Sawano, a jacket newly illustrated by manga adaptation artist Uri Sugata, and a special sticker set. Video extras feature the creditless opening and ending, plus a special cast video devoted to an etiquette lesson.
