In This Corner of the World 2018 TV Drama Blu-ray Box

The direction you are facing now is forward. Honoka Matsumoto and Tori Matsuzaka star in the story of a family living with strength through wartime. Fumiyo Kono's acclaimed manga, which had sold more than 1.2 million copies at the time of this release, becomes a serialized television drama for the first time.

One day in 1934, Suzu Urano, a girl living in Eba in Hiroshima City, is drawing beside a river on her way home from an errand when a kidnapper captures her. Shusaku, a boy who has already been captured, helps her escape through his quick thinking. Suzu reaches home safely, but the day's events seem almost like a dream. Miu Arai and Honoka Matsumoto portray Suzu as a child and an adult; Taiji Asakawa and Tori Matsuzaka portray Shusaku at those ages.

Time passes to the autumn of 1943. While Suzu and her younger sister Sumi, played by Sayu Kubota, help at their grandmother Ito Morita's house, their aunt rushes in. Someone has come to the family home in Eba asking to marry Suzu. Still unsure what is happening, Suzu hurries home and encounters her childhood friend Tetsu Mizuhara, played by Nijiro Murakami, who has joined the naval training corps. Having assumed that Tetsu was the prospective husband, Suzu becomes even more confused. Nobuko Miyamoto plays Ito.
