Joe Hisaishi's second Deutsche Grammophon album focuses on his refined technique and sensibility as a classical composer and conductor. He leads the Vienna Symphony in the world-premiere recording of Symphony No. 2, first performed in Kyoto in 2021.
Viola Saga, also receiving its first recording, features acclaimed viola soloist Antoine Tamestit. The work drew praise from its Japanese premiere in 2022. Symphony No. 2 was recorded at Vienna's Musikverein in March 2023; Viola Saga was recorded at the Vienna Konzerthaus in September 2023.
