Keigo Higashino's Game no Na wa Yukai Blu-ray Box

Keigo Higashino's Game no Na wa Yukai follows an advertising planner who treats both work and romance as contests he is certain he can win. Kazuya Kamenashi stars as Shunsuke Sakuma in this four-part WOWOW thriller, where wounded pride leads to a carefully planned kidnapping that is not meant to be real.

Sakuma's career at Cyberplan has been built on inventive ideas, determination and an ability to get results by whatever means are necessary. That confidence collapses when a major automobile client's vice-president, Katsutoshi Katsuragi, rejects his project and demands that somebody else take over. Sakuma decides to retaliate by joining forces with Katsuragi's daughter Juri, who has grievances against her father of her own. Their staged abduction initially seems to proceed exactly as planned, until unexpected developments begin to change the rules.

Atsuro Watabe plays Katsuragi, whose confrontations with Sakuma become a contest of shifting advantage, while Ai Mikami plays Juri. The uneasy bond between Sakuma and Juri develops alongside the deception, adding a dangerous romantic element to a plot in which nobody's position is secure. Updated to a contemporary setting, this television adaptation takes Higashino's 2002 novel toward an ending distinct from the earlier film version. Kosuke Suzuki directs, with a screenplay by Hiroyuki Komine and music by Kei Haneoka.

The two-disc Blu-ray box contains all four episodes, running approximately 209 minutes, and 58 minutes of supplementary material. The extras include a recorded premiere appearance, interviews with Kamenashi, Mikami and Watabe, both parts of Kamenashi's conversations with each of his co-stars, and television spots. A 16-page booklet accompanies the discs.

The series is presented in 16:9 1080i with original Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. The Blu-rays are region-free and contain no subtitles.
