Kessoku, Sono Saki e: Samurai-tachi no Kuno to Kibo follows Japan's national baseball team as Hirokazu Ibata begins a new chapter as manager. Appointed in October 2023 after experience with Japan's under-12 team, Ibata sets out to develop younger talent and select the next generation for the senior side. The documentary stays with the team from the November 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship through the November 2024 WBSC Premier12, observing the setbacks, hopes and shared resolve behind its pursuit of success.

Directed and filmed by Shintaro Miki, the 120-minute feature is narrated by Toshiyuki Morikawa and features Yu Takahashi's specially written theme song "Seishun no Mukougawa." Official-camera access reveals the players away from public view and the work behind the bench as they continue fighting together through the Premier12 final.

The 81-minute bonus programme begins with the fielders: the question of captaincy, Kotaro Kiyomiya's flexibility, Kaito Kozono's ritual, a return-to-roots performance and Ryosuke Tatsumi's finely detailed impressions. Pitching features cover rainy-day activity, Japan's closer and Taisei's bullpen. The sections on teammates and generations include a Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters same-age showdown between Koki Kitayama and Kotaro Kiyomiya, previously unseen footage of Shosei Togo and Haruto Inoue, the cleanup hitter's daily routine with Takahisa Hayakawa, the Chuo University quartet and conversations between players of the same age.

Further extras include "BIG or SMALL," a Taiwan stadium check, the pre-game huddles from eight consecutive wins before the final, all seven home runs, and a special Yu Takahashi interview about the thoughts behind the theme song. The main documentary uses Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, while the bonus programme is presented in Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo.
