Kirio Fanclub Live-Action Blu-ray Box

“What would you do if Kirio let out a really loud fart?” “Are you kidding? I’d be overjoyed.” Expect aching sides and plenty of tears in an addictive story of friendship, romance and the bittersweet days of youth. This one-sided romantic comedy adapts Chikyu no Osakana Ponchan’s Kirio Fanclub manga, published by Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha under its Ruelle Comics imprint. It placed sixth in the women’s category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2024 and tenth in 2025, making the top ten for two consecutive years.

Mizuki Kayashima stars as Aimi, who seems cool and solitary but is expressive and a little absent-minded. Riko plays the gentle, charming Nami, always ready with a perfectly timed retort. Their opposite personalities turn their conversations into a lively double act. Mizuki Inoue plays Kirio, the object of both girls’ affection, conveying emotion through his voice and mouth in a demanding role that never reveals his entire face.

Aimi Miyoshi and Nami Someya attend the same high school, and their everyday conversations revolve around their classmate Kirio. He is quiet and unremarkable, yet his smallest words and gestures make their hearts race. Their devotion sometimes spills into wild fantasies, dubious rituals and fierce battles between best friends, but their days of cheering on their favourite boy seem full of fun.

Behind that cheerful appearance, however, Aimi and Nami each have a secret they have long kept from the other. Kirio is also suffering from a secret he cannot tell anyone. Their feelings gradually become entwined not only with one another, but with those of the friends around them.

The box contains all ten episodes, an outer sleeve case and a booklet. The first and final episodes include audio commentaries featuring Mizuki Kayashima, Riko, director Hatsuki Yokoo and original creator Chikyu no Osakana Ponchan. Making-of footage is also included.
