“This fire is our fire, isn’t it?” The hit 2022 Laid-Back Camp film arrives for home viewing with a wealth of supplementary material. The series began its first television broadcast in January 2018 and helped inspire a camping boom; its theatrical adventure offers both new viewers and those who saw it at the cinema a release to enjoy for years to come.

This story begins in a winter a little further in the future. Rin Shima has left her home prefecture of Yamanashi to work for a small publisher in Nagoya, where she lives alone. One weekend, as she plans a motorcycle trip, an unexpected message arrives from her high-school friend Chiaki Ogaki: “I’m in Nagoya right now.”

Chiaki works for Yamanashi’s tourism promotion organisation and is responsible for redeveloping a facility that closed several years earlier. “If there’s this much space, why not make it a campsite?” Rin’s casual remark sets Chiaki in motion.

Nadeshiko Kagamihara works in an outdoor-goods shop in Tokyo, Aoi Inuyama has become a primary-school teacher in Yamanashi, and Ena Saito works in a pet-grooming salon in Yokohama. The former camping friends come together, and the campsite development project begins. Connected by camping, the five take on something they can accomplish at this stage of their lives, opening a new chapter in their outdoor story.

Newly drawn artwork decorates the slipcase and foldout presentation, showing Nadeshiko and her friends with their handmade campsite through the seasons. A full-colour booklet looks back on the film through a timeline, setting material and cinema-admission extras. Supplementary event footage preserves the atmosphere of its original release, alongside promotional material.
