Outside the local station, Little Shark meets Sora, a girl worried that transferring to a city high school will leave her alone. After offering encouragement, Little Shark spots a glittering city poster and a shark-shaped cloud drifting overhead. Following that invitation, the curious traveller boards a train and sets off into a world of neon lights, crowded carriages and bustling crossings, where new friendships await.
Based on Penguin Box’s manga, City Friends is directed by Chihiro Kumano and animated by ENGI. Kana Hanazawa voices Little Shark, joined by Megumi Han as Anko-chan and Misaki Kuno as Usame-chan. Lozareena performs the theme song.
This deluxe two-disc edition includes the approximately 72-minute film and all 60 short anime episodes, alongside reprints of Penguin Box’s specially drawn manga and supporting illustrations and a reduced-size theatrical programme. Japanese audio is available in Dolby Digital 5.1 and Linear PCM stereo. No subtitles are included.
