Maesetsu! Opening Act Vol. 4 Blu-ray

A new Kagami Yoshimizu production raises the curtain! This everyday comedy follows four young women struggling toward their dream of becoming comedians.

Nineteen-year-olds Fubuki Kitakaze, Mafuyu Kogarashi, Rin Shintani and Nayuta Asogi work part-time jobs day and night while earnestly practicing their routines. They keep trying under the lofty banner of making everyone happy through laughter and becoming happy themselves through everyone else's happiness, but their careers have yet to take off.

Their goal is to stand on the stage of Namba Grand Kagetsu, the comedy world's equivalent of Nippon Budokan. First, however, they decide to begin closer to home and work toward performing in the Farm Class, the very lowest tier at Tokyo Shibuya's Mugendai Hall.

They see the active high-school comedy duo JK Cool as their rivals, although that rivalry exists only in their own minds. JK Cool are also the older schoolmates of Mafuyu's sister Manatsu and her childhood friend Kanae Kanari. Inspired by them, first-year high-school students Manatsu and Kanae also begin aiming to become comedians. Eight people in four duos embark on their everyday comedy struggles. Milk will come flying out! Laughter cannot be hidden.

Volume four contains episodes ten through twelve. Video extras include the third promotional video, Risako Murai, the voice of Hajime Nakama, in Maesetsu Roman, and location-scouting footage at Yoshimoto Mugendai Hall. Audio commentary features Hiromi Igarashi and Sakura Nakamura. The original first pressing included an illustrated digipak with a clear sleeve, two illustrated coasters, a twelve-page booklet and a bonus CD; these physical extras depend on first-press copy availability.
