Manga Burabura surveys contemporary manga through reviews by Nobuhiko Saito and Kayoko Kuramochi, accompanied by illustrations from Banko Kuze and other manga artists. Originally published in the Yomiuri Shimbun from the late 2010s into the early 2020s, the pieces follow changes in the medium from the sustained viewpoint of two professional readers.
More than 300 works appear across a deliberately broad range: cat manga, reportage, educational comics, long-running series, bandes dessinees and books about manga research. The chapters progress through Future, Turbulent Times, Revival and Dawn, following an opening reflection on manga's constant renewal.
An appendix records each critic's top three selections for 2015-2023, and an afterword closes the collection. This Japanese-language book of criticism from Rittorsha contains 240 pages.
