Say, sir — have you ever heard of these things called vampires? Yes, the monsters that drink human blood and live beneath the veil of night. Oh, but turning into bats — that's just nonsense from novels. Real vampires do nothing of the kind. They never change their appearance. In fact, they're weak. Sunlight burns them to ashes. Their hearing and sense of smell, more sensitive than a dog's, cannot bear the clamour of modern civilisation. And they drown in water. But do you know what frightens them most? Family registers. Because of the registers, vampires, who never grow older, cannot remain in one place. Let an unpleasant rumour start, and someone will burst in during the daytime, drag them out beneath the sun and turn them to ashes in an instant. That's the end of the story....Vampires are a pitiable lot. They used to be ordinary humans. They're trying their hardest to live like people. So wouldn't it be all right to give them a little help? The army has a vampire unit called Code Zero. Perhaps those gentlemen will treat vampires like human beings. How do I know all this? Because I, Shinnosuke Tenmaya, am an employment broker for vampires. I look forward to your continued custom, my vampire friend.
Story In the twelfth year of the Taisho era — 1923 — vampires appear in Tokyo's nights. They have hidden in this world since ancient times, drinking human blood under cover of darkness. To recruit or capture them, the army establishes the Sixteenth Special Task Force, commonly known as Code Zero, with vampires at its core. Led by Lieutenant General Sonosuke Nakajima, Yoshinobu Maeda, Shutaro Kurusu, Tokuichi Yamagami, Suwa and Takeuchi once again confront the vampires wandering through the night...
