Mary and the Witch's Flower Blu-ray

Studio Ponoc's first feature follows Mary, a girl who discovers Night Flight, a forbidden flower stolen from the land of witches. It grants her extraordinary powers for one night, but a single lie soon draws the people she cares about into a dangerous chain of events. Her unexpected adventure becomes a story of encounters, hope and the choices that can change a seemingly disastrous situation.

Director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, known for The Secret World of Arrietty and When Marnie Was There, brings expressive character animation, detailed backgrounds and large-scale fantasy action to this adaptation of Mary Stewart's story. The production brings together artists with experience at Studio Ghibli, combining their craft with Studio Ponoc's new beginning. Released theatrically in 2017 and in more than 100 countries, the film pairs its themes of loss, renewal and hope with SEKAI NO OWARI's theme song Rain.

Hana Sugisaki voices Mary, with Ryunosuke Kamiki as Peter, Yuki Amami as Madam Mumblechook, Fumiyo Kohinata as Doctor Dee, Hikari Mitsushima as the red-haired witch, Jiro Sato as Flanagan, Kenichi Endo as Zebedee, Eri Watanabe as Miss Banks and Shinobu Otake as Charlotte. Riko Sakaguchi and Hiromasa Yonebayashi wrote the screenplay, Yoshiaki Nishimura produced the film, and Takatsugu Muramatsu composed the score.

The Blu-ray includes the 103-minute feature and a substantial selection of supplements: the approximately 39-minute ZERO CULTURE spin-off following 500 days of production, a roughly 32-minute conversation with SEKAI NO OWARI, Yonebayashi and Nishimura about the theme song, the approximately 14-minute completion-premiere event, an approximately 11-minute theatrical promotional making-of film, and trailers, television spots and promotional tie-in television spots. Japanese stereo, surround and DTS Headphone:X soundtracks are provided alongside Japanese audio description, with Japanese and English subtitles.
