Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms Volume 1 Blu-ray
TV メカウデ Vol.1
Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms brings its original television anime, which began broadcasting in October 2024, to Blu-ray. Created and directed by animation filmmaker Okamoto, the series comes from the emerging Fukuoka-based animation production company TriF Studio. Its crowdfunded pilot attracted attention around the world before the project became a television series.
One day, middle-school student Hikaru Amatsuga, who lives in Kitakagami City, meets Alma, a mysterious mechanical life-form shaped like an arm. Alma tries to attach itself to Hikaru’s body to draw energy from him, but the attempt fails—and it attaches to his hoodie instead.
Meanwhile, the powerful Kagami Group is pursuing Alma as it plots to strip the Mecha-Ude of their sense of self and turn them into weapons. ARMS, an organisation working to rescue and liberate the Mecha-Ude, is also searching for Alma.
Unable to abandon the bewildered Alma, who has lost its memories, Hikaru puts on the hoodie to which it has attached itself. He is soon drawn into a major incident involving the people who wield these mechanical arms.
Volume 1 includes three main episodes, a case newly illustrated by director Okamoto, the first character-collection sticker set and the first acrylic-stand diorama. The two 48 mm square prism stickers feature Aki with Sinis and Dex, illustrated by Okamoto, and Alma, illustrated by guest artist Giant Reiko, with printing on their reverse sides. Extras include scenes omitted from the main anime, an episode-three commentary with Okamoto and Yu Shimamura, the creditless opening and ending, and promotional videos and commercials.
