Mega Drive Mini 2 Multiverse Sound World explores new versions of Space Harrier, Space Harrier II and Fantasy Zone through recordings made digitally from actual Mega Drive hardware. The new Space Harrier ports imagine what the system could have achieved with sprite-scaling support, while Space Harrier II receives arcade-style musical arrangements.
Thirteen Space Harrier tracks, twenty from Space Harrier II and thirty-eight Fantasy Zone tracks preserve the FM sound in full, including Fantasy Zone's hidden Space Harrier music mode. Three arrangements add vocal performances by S.S.T. Legends and by Hiro with Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, plus a karaoke version, for seventy-four tracks across two CDs.
Developer comments in the booklet explore the work behind the games. The recordings retain the behavior of the original sound programs, including imperfections heard on the hardware.
