Meiji Modern Musical: Bakumeiroku Prequel Blu-ray
明治モダン歌劇「恋花幕明録～前日譚～」Blu-ray
Alone, Hajime Saito thinks back on the lord he once served. It was a turbulent age in which he lost both his lord and many companions. Those dreamlike days form the history of men who fought for their own visions of an ideal future.
The Boshin War begins with the Battle of Toba–Fushimi. The shogunate’s forces seek to restore a world where samurai can live as samurai, while the new government’s army aims to end that world and build a new age. Between them, a third faction carries out mysterious experiments. Swept by powerful currents, one era is ending and another is about to begin.
The time is Keio: this is the story before the era’s name changed to Meiji. The musical is accompanied by backstage footage, a CD of the production’s live songs and a booklet.
