Takuya Kimura enters new territory. A man who has completely lost hope in life returns to life's ring alongside idealistic, passionate high school students.

A high school boxing coach who has lost hope faces a rematch with life. Reuniting with screenwriter Yasushi Fukuda, Takuya Kimura takes on an unusual role for the first time. About two years after the second season of BG: Personal Bodyguard aired in 2020, Kimura returned to TV Asahi's Thursday drama slot. Seven years after working together, he and Fukuda, his acclaimed collaborator on the HERO series from 2001 to 2015 and CHANGE in 2008, tackled their first school sports drama together.

Kimura plays Shogo Kirisawa, who won four boxing championships in high school and becomes a high school boxing club coach almost thirty years later. The bright period of his life was brief: he abandoned boxing in university for a particular reason, later lost his beloved wife, and suffered further misfortune. Now he has completely lost hope. Unexpectedly becoming a boxing coach gradually rekindles his passion and sets his life moving again.

Highlights: Kimura's first school sports drama sees him coaching a high school boxing club. Hikari Mitsushima plays its faculty advisor, joined by Ken Yasuda, Norito Yashima, Yuki Uchida, Katsuhisa Namase and Akira Emoto. Rising actors Kaito Takahashi of King & Prince, Anna Yamada, Nijiro Murakami, Ryota Bando, Takara Sakumoto and Sakura Kiryu portray students making their futures. Yasushi Fukuda writes the scripts. B'z provides COMEBACK -Itoshiki Hahen-, a theme song whose lyrics reflect the drama's world. The title logo was handwritten by Kaito Takahashi. Kimura proposed using handwriting by one of the student performers, then personally chose the best design without being told who had written it.

Story: Shogo Kirisawa, played by Takuya Kimura, once achieved the distinction of four boxing championships in high school, but repeated misfortune has left him without hope. He makes ends meet delivering pizza and goes through his days saying that he could die at any time. His best friend Seiichiro Kai, played by Ken Yasuda, who trained with him in their high school boxing club, tries to raise his spirits. Kirisawa has changed completely and stubbornly refuses to imagine a brighter future. Seriously concerned, Kai consults Kenzo Ashiya, played by Akira Emoto, their former coach at Matsubadai High School, hoping Kirisawa can succeed him. Kirisawa is reluctant, but when his former teacher goes so far as to kneel before him, he cannot simply refuse. He returns to his old school as a temporary coach rather than head coach.

Matsubadai is now an academically focused school that sends students to the University of Tokyo, very different from the past. Since Ashiya retired, the boxing club has weakened rapidly. Principal Makoto Oba, played by Yuki Uchida, plans to shut it down, using its failure to meet the required number of members as justification. Newly appointed advisor Aoi Orihara, played by Hikari Mitsushima, has neither an attachment to boxing nor knowledge of it. Facing a coach and advisor with no apparent enthusiasm, the club members experience conflicting feelings. Then club captain Kaito Iba, played by Kaito Takahashi, learns of Kirisawa's four championships and suddenly challenges him to a public sparring match.
