Modernized Hanbok Character Illustration explores contemporary adaptations of traditional Korean dress through more than sixty character illustrations. VNVNII organises clothing and design elements into eight illustrated categories, showing how traditional forms can become modern character costumes.
An opening diary introduces the artist's interest in everyday hanbok. The chapters examine jeogori, dangui, baeja and po garments, followed by traditional hats, patterns, accessories and other cultural materials. A final practical chapter brings those ideas together in drawing a character dressed in modernised hanbok.
VNVNII also makes physical versions of the outfits designed for these characters, connecting fashion illustration with clothing construction. This Japanese translation of the Korean original is published by Shoeisha and contains 176 pages.
