Mountain Doctor Blu-ray Box follows a young physician into the demanding world of mountain medicine, where clinical knowledge must work hand in hand with an understanding of the terrain. Yosuke Sugino stars as Ayumu Miyamoto in this original drama set in Matsumoto, Nagano, beneath the Northern Alps.

An orthopaedic surgeon who became a doctor with an important promise in mind, Ayumu returns to his hometown after eleven years. At Shinano General Hospital he reunites with his former classmate Noriko Muramatsu, now an anaesthetist. Hospital director Shuko Matsuzawa unexpectedly assigns him to both orthopaedics and the mountain-medicine department, whose work includes emergencies on the peaks, outpatient consultations and overnight duties at mountain huts.

His first helicopter rescue unsettles him when the sight of the mountains brings a troubling memory to the surface. After treating two injured members of a poorly equipped group, he faces another patient whose condition suddenly deteriorates. Back at the hospital, his questions about the assignment lead him to Gakuto Emori, an experienced doctor holding an international mountain-medicine qualification.

Through difficult rescues, disagreements between colleagues and encounters with patients, Ayumu must confront his own past while learning what it takes to save lives far from a hospital. Sae Okazaki, Emma Miyazawa, Koji Mukai, Rei Dan and Nao Omori join Sugino in the cast.

The four-disc set contains all eleven episodes across three programme discs, plus an extras disc featuring making-of footage, behind-the-scenes filming with Sugino on Mount Karamatsu and cast wrap-up scenes. An original booklet is included. The series runs approximately 513 minutes, with another 85 minutes of extras, and is presented with Japanese Linear PCM stereo audio and Japanese subtitles for the main episodes. The Blu-rays are region-free.
