This adaptation of Haruka Kawachi’s much-discussed manga, serialised in Feel Young and published by Shodensha, centres on Ryuhei Agawa. Since childhood he has loved the woman next door, who is ten years older, yet he can never escape her view of him as a younger brother who is practically family.

Alongside a pure romance, embraces and kisses bring wave after wave of heart-fluttering moments. An unsettled love triangle and shocking, unpredictable developments create an unusually captivating adult love story that never lets up.

The heroine, Tamaki Musashibara, finds herself caught between Ryuhei, a man ten years younger whom she regards as a brother but who pursues her intensely, and a charming divorced man of her own generation to whom she is irresistibly drawn.

Tamaki’s younger brother Bunta returns to the family home after being dumped by his longtime girlfriend. Ryuhei’s romantic rival, Tamotsu Kinugasa, is a divorced tailor who captures Tamaki’s heart in an instant. Her good friend Marina Yamanouchi is a single mother with a seven-year-old son.

Ryuhei has loved Tamaki faithfully since they were children, but she always treats him like a younger brother in the family. He confessed his feelings once in middle school and again in high school, yet neither time did she take him seriously. Still never seen as a potential romantic partner, he realises that he is already twenty-five and has nearly given up on loving her.

One day, Bunta is dumped by the girlfriend with whom he has been living and suddenly returns to the family home where Tamaki lives. As Tamaki makes a fuss over her selfish brother, his colleague, the tailor Kinugasa, arrives. When Tamaki answers the door, Ryuhei witnesses a shocking moment: she falls for Kinugasa at first sight!

Tamaki has always fallen in love easily, but Kinugasa is particularly her type. She is about to hold a birthday party for her friend Marina’s son Renji, and in her excitement invites Kinugasa too, leaving Ryuhei with complicated feelings. As everyone enjoys the meal, Kinugasa also seems attracted to Tamaki.

Later, Ryuhei learns that Tamaki will attend a cultural class taught by Kinugasa. Panicking, he offers to join her. Sensing that love is about to begin between Tamaki and Kinugasa, he decides that he cannot give up like this and begins an earnest pursuit of Tamaki.
