Musical Vincenzo Blu-ray

Bring the hammer of evil down on evil. Behind the respectable face of a lawyer stands an Italian Mafia consigliere. The worldwide hit drama Vincenzo arrives in Japan as a musical for its first-ever stage adaptation, created in collaboration with Studio Dragon, the company behind Crash Landing on You and other acclaimed dramas. This release captures the heated final performance and adds extensive footage from the rehearsal room and backstage.

The revenge story of a Mafia adviser challenging a vast organisation that controls enormous wealth and vested interests is reborn as a Japanese musical. Masanari Wada plays the cool antihero Vincenzo Cassano, while Suzuka Tomita of Hinatazaka46 plays Hong Cha-young, the lawyer who fearlessly joins his campaign. Hitomi Sato portrays their formidable opponent, corrupt lawyer Choi Myung-hee. Kandai Ueda plays Cha-young’s junior colleague Jang Jun-woo, and Masato Takeuchi appears as Babel Group chairman Han-seo. An accomplished ensemble brings the eccentric residents of Geumga Plaza faithfully to life.

Standing by his own Mafia sense of justice, Vincenzo confronts overwhelming evil alongside his strange companions. The production combines the original’s distinctive mixture of seriousness and humour with powerful action for an epic revenge drama.

After being betrayed by an associate in Italy, Vincenzo Cassano returns to his Korean homeland. His objective is to recover a huge cache of gold concealed inside Geumga Plaza, a mixed-use building in Seoul. Under the pretext of redevelopment, however, the plaza is about to pass into the hands of Babel Construction, part of the enormous Babel Group, whose activities include corruption and crime.

To reclaim the building, Vincenzo teams up with its residents and, following a particular incident, lawyer Hong Cha-young. Together they take the fight to Babel in a spirited human comedy about a consigliere who punishes villains using villains’ own methods.

Bonus footage includes a making-of feature covering rehearsals and backstage activity, the production announcement press conference, special filmed conversations, and the complete version of Masanari Wada’s tour of the Korean filming locations.
