My Country: The New Age Compact Blu-ray Box 2 Special Price Edition

Three young people face the upheaval that carries Korea from the final days of Goryeo to the foundation of Joseon. Filmed over nine months with a production budget of twenty billion won, this sweeping historical action drama brings the founding of a nation to life through striking imagery and a fresh perspective on its history.

In 1388, the impoverished Seo Hwi supports his sick younger sister. His close friend Nam Seon-ho has a high-ranking father, but faces discrimination because his mother was a slave. The two friends have honed their martial skills together, and come to the rescue of Han Hui-jae when officials pursue her. Learning that Hwi is the son of Seo Geom, the warrior who once saved her life, Hui-jae rapidly grows close to him.

Hwi and Seon-ho compete for first place in the military examination. Although Hwi defeats his friend, Seon-ho passes because his father, Nam Jeon, has bribed the examiner. Ordered by his father to kill Hwi, Seon-ho instead sends him to the battlefield as part of the advance force for the Liaodong campaign.

Three months later, Hwi has distinguished himself in the hell of war and earned the respect of those around him. But commander Yi Seong-gye decides to eliminate the advance force to prove that King U’s campaign was unjustified. Sent to Liaodong with an assassination force, Seon-ho is reunited with Hwi by a cruel twist of fate.

In 1392, Yi Seong-gye becomes king of the new nation of Joseon. Unable to defy Seon-ho’s order to kill the king’s fifth son, Yi Bang-won, Hwi begins searching for Bang-won’s weakness. This compact concluding box also includes special interviews with Yang Se-jong and Woo Do-hwan.
