NMK ARCADE SOUND DIGITAL COLLECTION Vol.1
If you are aiming for a high score, listen in high fidelity. NMK Arcade Sound Digital Collection launches a project to bring the background music of NMK-developed arcade games to CD through digital recordings. The first volume features Operation Ragnarok from 1994 alongside Gunnail from 1993, whose music appears on CD for the first time.
Gunnail is a vertically scrolling shooter developed by NMK in 1993. Its life system makes it comparatively approachable for a shooter of its era, but scoring remains tense: the fewer lives remaining, the higher the score multiplier. Its aggressive, bass-driven sound is another defining feature.
Operation Ragnarok is a horizontally scrolling shooter developed by NMK in 1994. Players can freely combine different ships and shot types, while its distinctive scoring system also awards points for firing at obstacles and terrain. Its four-on-the-floor sound, drawing on rave and hardcore techno, remains highly regarded.
