Oishii Rikon Todokemasu Blu-ray Box

The highest reward and the harshest revenge: two partners whose own bond cannot be recognised by the law search for what it really means to be connected. Goki Maeda and Rintaro Mizusawa lead this human legal drama about guiding people betrayed by their partners towards an “oishii,” or satisfying, divorce.

Maeda plays the cool, clear-headed lawyer Hajime Otokita, while Mizusawa plays Kai Iseya, the detective who is both his partner and the person he lives with. Risa Masuda appears as Hajime’s niece Anna Owari, whose innocent manner is accompanied by surprisingly mature words and keen insight. Anna Murashige plays Azusa Aono, the law office’s bright, sociable paralegal. Noriko Iriyama plays Kaede Owari, a key figure in Hajime and Kai’s lives, and Terunosuke Takezai plays Tasuku Owari, a skilled lawyer belonging to the same bar association as Hajime.

Hajime has a gift for winning substantial compensation in divorce cases. Together with Kai, he takes on exceptionally difficult troubles of the heart. Their opponents include a nationally famous television host, celebrated as one half of a devoted couple, who secretly pursues one younger female announcer after another; a woman who betrays her long-term female partner and their shared dream of marriage by choosing to marry a man; and a husband who refuses to let his wife leave.

Eventually, a request for divorce arrives from someone who has died. Then the mysterious young Anna turns up unexpectedly. What are marriage, partnership, family and true love? What kind of satisfying divorce can these two deliver? The drama asks whether its characters are really together with the person they love, through the eyes of partners who cannot have their own relationship bound by law.

The box contains all ten episodes, an outer sleeve case and a booklet. Making-of footage offers a look behind the production.
