Piple My Married Life with an AI Blu-ray

Voice actor Yuki Kaji takes his first leading role in a live-action serial drama. A man approaching thirty marries a beautiful female AI in this slightly mysterious story set in the near future.

In 2030, AI can be welcomed into families and married. Unremarkable office worker Kenichi Tsumiki, played by Yuki Kaji, has a disastrous date with the senior colleague he has admired for years. Reeling from the disappointment, he impulsively buys a beautiful female AI equipped for sexual intercourse, welcomes her as his wife and names her Piple, played by Ayaka Wilson. Yet, for some reason, she refuses intimacy on their wedding night.

Tsumiki visits Piple's developer and meets Kaede Miyama, played by Sakurako Ohara, a mysterious AI researcher with no capacity for empathy. He learns that the problem lies in the initial settings he chose, but is told that unfortunately Piple's configuration cannot be changed. Instead, Miyama makes him a surprising proposal.

The two-disc set contains all eight episodes, with one hundred and ninety-one minutes of main-program footage and approximately one hundred and thirty-three minutes of extras. Bonus footage includes making-of material, the avatar radio program Tsumiki's Room and a collection of publicity spots. The radio program is the side job of Tsumiki, Kaji's character, and includes the previously unreleased Telepo Eats segment and the Graduation segment. A sixteen-page booklet is enclosed. The original first pressing also included a Tsumiki avatar sticker designed by Masayoshi Tanaka; that first-press item depends on copy availability.

The cast features Yuki Kaji, Ayaka Wilson, Sakurako Ohara, Shugo Oshinari, Yusuke Yamada, Yu Kamio, Masaki Kaji, Hazuki Shimizu, Tom Fujita, Asami Usuda and Mari Hamada. Specifications and bonus content may change.
