A-Train continues to evolve

A landmark railway and urban-development simulation combining three elements: city development, railway operations and company management.

Responding to enthusiastic fan requests, the PlayStation 4 game A-Train Exp., which brought the impressive expressive power of the PC game A-Train 9 to the console, receives an upgrade.

A-Train Exp.+ (Express Plus) adds substantial new features, buildings, stations, vehicles and scenarios as a new release.

Running locomotives around their trains and coupling trains make more flexible operations possible, while turntables and new items enrich the scenery around the railway. Enjoy atmospheric streets and neighborhoods.

New features: turntables and locomotive run-around

This game adds turntables and the ability to run a locomotive around its train.

Previously, when a locomotive reached a terminal station, it would simply reverse and depart backward, reducing its speed. Now a turntable can rotate the leading vehicle, and run-around movements can reposition it, allowing locomotives to operate facing forward.

Enjoy more dynamic railway operations, changing the direction of locomotives and freight trains or switching the tracks they use.

New features: coupling and uncoupling trains

Coupling and uncoupling trains, essential to complex modern railway operations, have been added.

Previously, a train's formation could not change during operation. Efficient service therefore required separate trains based on how many passengers used each area.

Now trains can run coupled together in busy areas, then split into two trains following different routes in quieter areas. Create efficient timetables using these flexible formations.

Additional scenarios

All six areas from A-Train Travelogue are included. This series, published on Norimono News, recreates real tourist destinations in A-Train.

Revive lines that have been discontinued or transform the locations into your ideal towns, expanding the possibilities of these real places.

Seven scenarios have been added in total, including other maps where locomotives take an active role.

Understand what makes each town distinctive and demonstrate your management skills.

Additional vehicles, buildings and items

Seven vehicles have been added to the previous 224, bringing the total to 231. The selection includes popular vehicles requested by players and vehicles essential to the tourist destinations.

New buildings and items complement the railway vehicles and enrich the scenes you create around them.

The original physical extra

The original release included the A-Train Exp.+ Strategy Support Guide for early purchasers of the packaged game. It introduces beginners to ways of enjoying the game and the basics of railway management, helping address concerns that simulation games are difficult. The guide was produced by Artdink and supervised by Junichi Sugiyama.

The original guide was available only while supplies lasted. Its inclusion and condition in a Used copy depend on the individual item.

A vast selection of vehicles and types is included. Trains formed from up to ten cars realistically portray the scenery of a city with railways.

Vehicles from across Japan range from nostalgic models to the latest designs, letting you recreate familiar towns.

A map can hold up to 200 train formations, making extremely dense timetables possible.

Expansive maps

Each map is large enough to contain almost the entire Yamanote Line.

You can recreate the whole center of Tokyo within a single map.

Build your own city and railway network across a vast area measuring ten kilometers by ten kilometers.

Create your ideal city

Map Construction mode lets you create your ideal urban scenery without constraints such as funds.

Automatically generate terrain by specifying the proportions of mountains and sea, or use terrain-editing tools to create mountains and valleys yourself.

These features make it easy to build the ideal city from its terrain upward.
