PlayStation 4 Batsugun Saturn Tribute Boosted Special Edition

Toaplan's bullet-hell shooting returns—Boosted!

BATSUGUN, the vertically scrolling shooter from Toaplan, a studio responsible for many uncompromising shooting games throughout the 1980s and 1990s, returns with numerous new features.

Enjoy the outstanding exhilaration of a game often described as a pioneer of bullet-hell shooting: slip between enemy bullets and sweep away opponents with a torrent of shots.

First appearing in arcades in 1993, BATSUGUN drew attention for the spectacular impact of huge numbers of friendly and enemy bullets covering the screen. Two players can play simultaneously.

Two game modes

This release builds on the home version—the culmination of the original arcade game, the later revised Special Version and an added arranged soundtrack—with further new features.

Original Version is a port of the arcade edition released in 1993.

Special Version is an arranged mode based on the original, with adjusted game balance, additional scoring features and changes to the graphics.

Beyond Saturn Tribute: Boosted

This is the first release in the Saturn Tribute Boosted brand, which strengthens new features and additional content while continuing the earlier Saturn Tribute series' pursuit of faithful ports and reproductions using the Zebra Engine.

User-interface and screen-display features make various pieces of in-game information visible, expanding the ways you can play.

A sound-switching feature lets you play with the version of the background music you prefer.

The score display has one more digit than in the original, and the online rankings support this new score format.

Three screen modes

Home Ratio is the standard home-console mode, with an enlarged display area.

Arcade Ratio reduces the display area so you can play using the arcade game's vertical aspect ratio even on a conventional horizontal monitor.

Vertical Monitor Ratio is optimized for a monitor positioned vertically.

Support for beginners and experienced players

A comprehensive set of support features assists everyone from beginners to advanced players.

Rewind lets you turn back a short period of play and try again after a mistake.

Save & Load lets you save the game state at a scene of your choice and resume from that saved state.

Stage Select lets you freely set your aircraft and its power-up state, then start from any stage you like.

Special Edition physical contents

The Special Edition contains the game in a dedicated Special Edition box, the BATSUGUN Saturn Tribute Boosted Original & Arrange Soundtrack CD and a special official fan book supervised by TATSUJIN, the company that oversees the Toaplan brand.

The music CD includes the first audio release of the Special Version's background music, together with new arrangements by game-music composers Shinji Hosoe, Yousuke Yasui, Hagane, Daisuke Matsumoto and WASi303.

For this Used edition, the presence and condition of the presentation box, soundtrack CD, fan book and other physical accessories depend on the individual copy.
