The original Premium Edition supplies Battle Garegga Rev.2016 on a download card. Downloading and playing the game requires an internet connection and access to PlayStation Store. A Used package does not guarantee that the card is included or that its code remains unused.

M2 announced on November 11, 2021 that all original Premium Edition product codes have an extended expiration date of January 1, 2038, regardless of the date printed on the card. This extension does not restore a code that has already been redeemed.

The strongest weapon you created has become your greatest enemy

Battle Garegga, the vertically scrolling arcade shooter that began operating in 1996, features meticulous pixel-art graphics, challenging difficulty and music by Manabu Namiki influenced by Detroit techno. Its style of play, built around adjusting the difficulty rank, overturned established shooting-game conventions and influenced later bullet-hell shooters.

At the time Rev.2016 was introduced, the only earlier home release was the 1998 Sega Saturn version, a rare premium-priced title. For the original game’s twentieth anniversary, M2’s first Shot Triggers release brought a complete port with additional features to PlayStation 4.

Faithful reproduction and extensive support

The game is faithfully reproduced with a wide choice of screen modes suited to Full HD displays. Online rankings answer competitive players’ ambitions. Helper functions and gadgets use the free space on widescreen displays to show additional information and assist your progress through this famously difficult game.

Four game modes

Arcade reproduces the original arcade board while fixing infinite patterns and progression-blocking bugs. The Rev.2016 music by Manabu Namiki is newly recorded and enhanced beyond a simple stereo conversion.

Super Easy reduces enemy durability, bullet density and bullet speed, and fixes difficulty rank at zero. Beginners can comfortably aim for a clear and immerse themselves in the detailed graphics and music.

Premium changes the stage order and fixes rank at a high level. The growing arsenal becomes central to survival and scoring: overpower fiercer attacks with an increasingly powerful ship in this intense, challenging new arrangement.

Custom lets you adjust the game settings as you wish. Together, the four modes welcome confident arcade veterans and newcomers alike.

M2 Gadgets reveal Garegga’s inner workings

Information on both sides of the game screen includes each stage’s score, boss health and timers. A real-time graph shows the difficulty rank rising and falling according to your play, exposing the previously mysterious workings of the game’s rank system and supporting your strategy.

Extensive customization

Alongside familiar difficulty and control settings, options include changing enemy-bullet colors for visibility, enabling or disabling rank increases, a vertical-screen mode and scanlines. M2 provides a flexible range of settings.

Four music sets

Original Arcade provides the arcade game’s original music. Rev.2016 perfect edition is the newly recorded and enhanced score by original composer Manabu Namiki, going beyond stereo conversion.

Saturn Arranged version provides the arrangements added for the 1998 home release. 2016 Remix version contains game-length selections from the remixes originally announced for SweepRecord’s Battle Garegga Complete Soundtrack, scheduled for December 2016.

Original Premium Edition: ten included items

The original set includes the Battle Garegga Rev.2016 download card; BATTLE GAREGGA Rev.2016 Original Soundtrack - Rev.2016 perfect edition -; and the BATTLE GAREGGA 20TH MEMORIAL BOOK BLUESCAPE booklet, with development settings, rough illustrations, rare contemporary materials and developer interviews.
