Love in everyday life
What you need to enjoy a school story is, quite simply, the feeling of actually going to school.
Three elements relating to time have been incorporated to give you that feeling.
Choose what time to go to school: a system lets you arrive at the time you prefer.
After school, go and meet your favourite heroine: you can move freely around the school.
Experience school life throughout the year: the story starts in May, and you can enjoy the developing romances through all four seasons.
Story
Ryotaro Shinozaki has had to live overseas for six years because of his parents’ work transfer. He confides in Toru Hanazono, his childhood friend from his time living in Japan, that he dislikes life abroad.
“I’m surrounded by the boys in my class, and I can’t even talk to the girls... I don’t want my youth to end like this!!”
There is a language barrier too, and Ryotaro says that he has begun to miss Japan. Toru sympathises and asks his own parents whether there might be some way for Ryotaro to return.
They also help to persuade Ryotaro’s parents, and he is able to return to Japan by sharing a room with Toru.
He is happy to be back in Japan, but above all there will be a chance to talk to girls! He is going to find love at his new school!
“What do you want to do when you get back to Japan?”
“Find romance, of course! I want female friends too!”
Emi Hanazono: a childhood friend like a younger sister, with an embarrassing past
A first-year student at Hanyu Academy, Emi is a childhood friend one year younger than Ryotaro. They are reunited after several years apart.
She was very attached to him in the past and used to call Ryotaro “big brother”, passing over her own real brother.
As a small child she was headstrong, making those around her dance to her tune and causing trouble for Ryotaro and the others. Now her personality has become calmer, and those memories are an embarrassing part of her past.
“I-it would be too embarrassing to call you big brother now...”
Mia Togane: a caring class representative
Mia is the class representative of Hanyu Academy’s second-year Class C, which Ryotaro joins.
Her classmates like her, but she can also be a little scatterbrained and unreliable, making you feel that you cannot leave her alone.
She is on the library committee and often fills in for the librarian in the library after school.
“Shall we go to our next classroom together?”
Rikako Jinnai: a track club member who struggles with conversation
A girl in Hanyu Academy’s second-year Class D, Rikako loves running and devotes herself to her club.
Ryotaro notices her during morning practice and becomes curious about her. They then sit next to each other in a joint class and become friends.
She is not used to talking to people, and comes across as particularly curt with boys...
“Um, I’m not used to talking to men... I don’t know how I should react...”
Misato Suzuyama: an exceptionally positive upperclassman
A third-year Hanyu Academy student, Misato is a lively upperclassman in the same class as Ryotaro’s childhood friend Toru.
Popular with both boys and girls, she sets the mood in her class and is so well known that hardly anyone in the third year does not know her.
She is considerate and loves amusing and enjoyable things. Whenever something looks interesting, she has the initiative to approach people herself. She is a positive thinker.
“Something good will happen tomorrow! Or shall I make it a fun day for you myself?”
