The long-awaited sequel to EVE burst error
EVE burst error, released for PC in 1995 and later ported to Sega Saturn, became a popular adventure game. EVE rebirth terror begins a new story one year after that classic.
One year after the burst error incident: a missing teacher, a body with an unknown cause of death, and mysterious incidents occurring once more. The destinies of the two protagonists lead toward another new tragedy...
Kojiro's story
With Himuro as his new assistant, the detective agency handles nothing but cases that Kojiro finds dull. Winter comes around again, and just as he begins to grow restless, a girl arrives with a serious request.
She wants him to search for a missing temporary teacher. The girl, Kikka, attends the school where the teacher worked: Eru Foreign School.
Following his detective's instincts, Kojiro accepts the request. Visiting the school for the first time in a year, he searches for the missing teacher, Minato Binokami, and begins to see just how unnatural the disappearance is.
Around the same time, a mysterious death has occurred in a park near the school. During his investigation, he encounters Mayo, a girl with a mysterious air, and the school's nurse, Ichigusa, who fixes him with a sharp gaze.
Then the shadow of Eldia begins to flicker—a ghost from the past. The case takes on a dangerous aspect extending far beyond the disappearance of a single teacher.
Guided once more by fate, can Kojiro uncover the hidden truth behind the girl's request and what was left behind in the past?
Marina's story
Marina is a first-class investigator with the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office, but she has been away from fieldwork for a year. One winter day, her junior colleague Kyoko tells her to report to headquarters.
Enjoying her last day off as though trying to shake something away, Marina catches an intruder at a friend's detective agency and begins making up for her absence before reporting for duty.
The director receives her in the same building as a year earlier. Her assignment is to reinvestigate the inexplicable death of a researcher. It should be a simple inquiry with her junior colleague, but the more she understands the case, the more the unnatural circumstances trouble her.
There is the mystery of the locked room where the researcher's body was discovered, the peculiar attitudes of the other researchers, and Vine, an assistant she meets at the laboratory.
She also encounters Eldia's shadow in the building housing the laboratory. As her investigation begins, people appear around her: Kia, a boy from another country who comes to Yayoi, and River, a male traveler carrying sadness.
Marina begins to sense dangerous intentions and fate in the people seemingly drawn to the case and the environment surrounding the laboratory. She takes up her gun once more and returns as first-class investigator Marina Hojo.
Can Marina carve out the destiny she wants?
Renewed graphics for a new EVE
The preceding remaster retained somewhat classic designs, coloring and presentation. This new game preserves the characters' basic images while renewing their designs and coloring, adding changes to standing poses, blinking eyes and moving mouths to modernize their expression.
The event CG illustrations also use contemporary colors and beautiful coloring to express a new EVE.
Nostalgia and freshness together
The characters' distinctive exchanges and appeal are carefully portrayed. The game retains the flavor of a classic adventure while presenting a new work.
The principal voice cast is largely unchanged from the previous game. Popular and talented young performers join first-class veterans to create a rich new world.
EVE burst error R included on the disc
The PlayStation 4 version of EVE burst error R is included and can be played from the in-game menu. This is not a two-disc set.
Enhanced systems
The command-based system characteristic of EVE remains. Commands are not used everywhere: they are limited to the places that need them, balancing the flow so that you can read smoothly and progress without stress.
Alongside the previously popular Hint Mode, commands that have already been completed now receive a read-status indication, further improving the smoothness of play.
The original First Print Limited Edition contents
The edition originally included a special original art book. The art book supplied with the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita editions was the same.
This describes the edition's original physical contents. The inclusion and condition of accessories in a Used copy depend on the individual item.
