Feelings of love that begin after you start dating

A romance without “destiny” is a waste of time. Only a guaranteed happy ending can be the right answer to love.

If I fall in love, it should happen only once in my life—a passionate love with my ideal partner.

Watching my classmates enjoy an instant youth with whoever was close at hand, I believed that I alone was different.

But in my second summer at this school, I finally realize something: a destined lover apparently will not fall out of the sky.

“I want to fall in love. Not a fantasy romance that exists only among my ideals, but a real love with life flowing through it.”

A childhood friend who hopes to walk through life together forever. A classmate who dreams of meeting her prince. A younger student who wants to become as experienced in romance as the woman she admires. An older student who wants to show her cherished family a happy future.

Every encounter with these girls is a series of coincidences. What matters is that I actively take the initiative from now on.

Then why not let my love begin here? You cannot know whether your answer is correct until you have finished solving the problem.

I am the one who will turn this coincidence into destiny.

Sakurako Sonoike — voiced by Shiu Kanose

A childhood friend who has been close to the protagonist since kindergarten and knows him well.

She tells him honestly what she wants, while also remembering to support him.

Their relationship remains without progress: “There is love, but no romance. There is no romance, but there is love.”

Kouta Shinohara — voiced by Kiiro Tsukino

A petite older sister who looks after her younger siblings in place of her busy parents, whose family izakaya is flourishing.

She is the protagonist's classmate, but with younger siblings considerably younger than her, she has developed a maternal nature that could almost earn her the name “Mom.”

She does not feel inferior about her youthful appearance, though she thinks romance is distant from her. She has not realized that a wish to be cared for by someone lies dormant within her.

Yui Hakari — voiced by Ao Shirayuki

After the trauma of becoming isolated in the past, she resolves to change when entering a new school. She dresses herself in her ideal version of “cute” and tries to become someone everyone likes.

Her efforts have made her a central figure in the girls' group in her class. More people rely on her, but she is pushing herself too hard and is secretly exhausted every day.

Because she stays up late exchanging messages on social media, her schoolwork is disastrous. She is also hopeless at sports, revealing a vulnerable side.

Recently, she has desperately wanted a boyfriend, partly so she can decline invitations from her friends to group dates and outings that include boys.

Hatsuho Yofune — voiced by Kaname Shiratsuki

Her family belongs to an old line of shrine custodians that has worshipped the local guardian deity for generations.

She normally runs a mysterious general store within the shrine grounds, whose goods her father supposedly obtained. When away from the shop, she sometimes takes an instrument to the station front to enjoy performing on the street.

At her girls' school, she is called “Onee-sama” and receives many chocolates on Valentine's Day. Yet she feels that the girls who admire her are in love with love itself and do not see her true self.

While wondering what her true self is, she is always searching for something that can serve as her center.
