The Mega Man X series returns with new features

The Mega Man X series arrives on contemporary hardware with newly added X Challenge Mode and an extensive Museum Mode. Enjoy the series' evolution and a substantial collection of adventures.

Mega Man X was born in 1993 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018. To commemorate that anniversary, the eight games were faithfully brought to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 across two collections.

Among the many offshoots of Mega Man, the Mega Man X series inherits the original's 2D action DNA. Its fast-paced action and serious world, which grows deeper with each game, gained popularity and established it as a distinct brand.

The four later adventures

This collection contains the latter four games: Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8.

The expanding story that develops with each numbered instalment is another distinctive attraction of Mega Man X. Graphics and action evolved alongside the hardware, resulting in a collection of ambitious games. Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8 feature higher-resolution graphics and higher frame rates.

Mega Man X5, the fifth game, was released in November 2000. It introduced a new double-hero system and a new weapon system, as well as multiple endings that change according to play time.

X Challenge Mode

A demanding new mode, X Challenge, has been added. Powerful bosses from throughout the Mega Man X series team up across game boundaries to attack the player.

Museum Mode

Explore a large collection of development and setting materials, illustrations, original animation, merchandise catalogues, videos and background music. From nostalgic material to things you may never have seen before, there is plenty to discover.

The two collections share their general Museum Mode content. Illustrations and background music correspond to the games in each collection: Mega Man X through Mega Man X4 in Collection 1, and Mega Man X5 through Mega Man X8 here.

Enhanced graphics

For Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6, choose among three different visual styles. Filter 1 applies smooth correction, Filter 2 recreates the look of a CRT television, and turning filters off displays the original pixel graphics.

Across the two-collection line-up, these filters apply to Mega Man X through Mega Man X6. Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8 are presented at higher resolution for beautiful graphics.
