The Nobunaga's Ambition series lets you become officers such as Oda Nobunaga, Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin and seek to unite Japan. Since its first release in 1983, it has led the historical simulation genre. This entry develops the theme of creation with the series' first Officer Play and a garden-style domestic management system for shaping your own territory.

Experience the reality of a turbulent age from an officer's position

Your position and status depend on the officer you choose. Enjoy different play styles as a retainer, castle lord or daimyo. A retainer starts by receiving a small domain within a castle town. Earn the trust of your castle lord or daimyo and aim for higher status. Once you become master of a province and castle, choose officers to serve you and expand your opportunities. Choosing a daimyo such as Nobunaga or Shingen lets you command subordinates from the beginning and pursue national unification.

Building on the pursuit of realism in Sphere of Influence, the game offers both the pleasure of unifying the land and the new pleasure of experiencing a lifetime as an individual officer.

Carefully develop your own territory

Build a range of facilities freely on the territory granted by your castle lord or daimyo and develop it to suit your preferences. Merchant towns and foreign-trade towns are among the options for creating a domain of your own.

Domestic management earns the trust of your lord and inhabitants. Defend the domain against bandits and invading enemy units as you manage it with the dedication of an officer of the Sengoku period. As your status rises to castle lord and then daimyo, the scale and content of administration expand: develop a domain, a castle and finally a country according to your position.

Win through your own tactics on the battlefield

As a retainer, lead the force you have trained personally across the battlefield. Use different formations and troop-specific actions such as charges and volleys, controlling your troops as readily as your own limbs. On a rapidly changing battlefield, cooperate with allies or hurry to fulfill orders, experiencing the tactical decisions unique to an officer's perspective.

Full-scale siege and naval warfare

Sieges and naval battles, much requested after the previous game, now become playable. Siege strategies include tunneling attacks and large cannons; defensive strategies account for the provisions attackers carry. These varied tactics of the Sengoku period deepen the realism of warfare, while a rich variety of castle designs brings sieges to life.

The new battlefield-record system generates missions during battles. Success or failure changes the battle situation in real time, delivering more dramatic warfare.

The Siege of Osaka, the final great conflict of the Sengoku period

Explore episodes involving the Sanada clan and the Siege of Osaka, including a scenario immediately before the siege and event battles based on it. Osaka Castle and the Sanada Maru defenses are realistically recreated, and the Battle of Sanada Maru is playable. Officers involved in the Siege of Osaka receive newly drawn portraits, while approximately two hundred officers active in the late Sengoku period are added.

The original Treasure Box contains the game; Shibusawa Kou's Secret Strategy Data & Officer Art Book; the two-disc Complete Soundtrack CD; ten Officer Art Clear Files; a special desktop school calendar.

The complete soundtrack contains the music used in this game, along with all the music from Sphere of Influence and Sphere of Influence with Power-Up Kit. The ten clear files feature newly drawn officer illustrations created for this game. The collection of bonuses offers further ways to enjoy its world.
