PSO2 evolves—fly beyond reality

The original Episode 4 launch materials celebrated more than four million registered IDs in Japan, the television anime beginning in January 2016, and the release of Episode 4 on January 27, 2016. This Deluxe Package brings together items and goods for enjoying the continually evolving Phantasy Star Online 2 more deeply. The original PC, PS Vita and PlayStation 4 packages launched simultaneously.

The free-to-play online RPG introduced new experiences through Episode 4: the Summoner class, planet Earth, the Tokyo field, Gathering and expanded character creation with Layering Wear. The PlayStation 4 version was promoted as the most visually beautiful PSO2, with more realistic adventures and more detailed personal characters.

Endless adventure reaches Earth

Earth is the sixth planet, and Tokyo is the new field. Tokyo in AD 2028 connects across dimensions with Oracle. Accelerate over Dash Panels and race through a city beyond ordinary reality.

Mysterious enemies called Phantoms appear as manifestations of fear. The original launch announcement also described an early-May 2016 update in which the Phantom Battleship Yamato, awakened by imagination, would attack. Pilot the ARKS trump card A.I.S and challenge this ocean fortress. This is the original release-period feature announcement.

Character creation beyond the ultimate

Use intuitive controls to shape your own avatar in detail. Accessory positions and sizes and weapon positions can be adjusted more finely. Layering Wear adds three clothing layers—Outer, Base and Inner—for new combinations and a hero entirely your own.

A new way of life with Gathering

Alongside the casino, in-game live performances and extensive communication tools, Gathering adds a relaxed way to collect materials and fish in the field. Use the gathered materials to obtain new ring equipment and food in the lobby area Franka's Cafe, greatly expanding the ways to enjoy the game.

The Summoner class

The ninth class, Summoner, introduces a new fighting style: raise pets and fight alongside them. Thoroughly developing your pets lets even players less confident in action combat fight beyond their usual ability. Switch between pets with different personalities as situations demand.

A new story beyond boundaries

The original PlayStation 4 feature description includes sharing character data with the PC and PS Vita versions. A new story brings an unexpected direction and a distinguished new Episode 4 cast: Hitsugi, voiced by Risa Taneda; Al, voiced by Aki Toyosaki; Kohri, voiced by Aya Suzaki; Enga, voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya; and Hagito, voiced by Kenichi Suzumura. The new Story Board governs the drama's progression.

Getting started and original technical requirements

The original package instructions describe installing the PlayStation 4 disc, the PC edition's four DVDs or the PS Vita game card on the corresponding system. Register an ID free on the official site to begin playing. Basic play is free, with no class-level or play-time limits described.

This is an online-only game. Internet access and connection to a game server are required, and update data must be installed as needed. The original PlayStation 4 instructions require at least 45 GB of free storage.

For comparison, the separately sold PS Vita package uses the same game card as the Episode 3 Deluxe Package. A separately sold Vita memory card is required, with 16 GB or more recommended; updates require Wi-Fi, while the original instructions permit gameplay using 3G or Wi-Fi. These are Vita requirements, not extra contents in this PlayStation 4 package.
