R-Type Granzella

The latest entry in the landmark R-Type shooting series

The latest installment of the landmark side-scrolling shooter R-Type arrives on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Aiming to surpass everything in the series' history, it brings every shooting-game fan the best R-Type that could be created with contemporary technology.

What is R-Type?

R-Type first appeared as an arcade game in 1987, developed and published by Irem Software Engineering. It is a shooting game distinguished by its uncompromising gameplay and unique world.

Deep replay and customization options

Choose from more than 40 R-craft, including player ships from earlier installments in the series. Freely customize your own ship's colors and decals to make it uniquely yours.

Ranks, medals, encyclopedia entries and other collection elements unlock as you progress, offering plenty to work toward.

In addition to more than ten original stages, further stages were announced for release as downloadable content after launch. The announced additions included stages paying homage to earlier games in the series. These separately released stages are not promised as part of this physical edition.

Exhilarating shooting action

The Wave Cannon charges energy to deliver powerful attacks.

The Force is your invincible partner: control it remotely, or attach it to the front or rear of your ship to unleash laser attacks.

The distinctive R-Type gameplay built around these tools remains intact, while pursuing the challenge and exhilarating feel of a satisfying shooter.

Enemy destruction effects have been carefully crafted to make destroying your targets feel especially rewarding.

Use a variety of visually striking weapons to overcome each stage.

Original Limited Edition physical extra

The original Limited Edition included a Metal Earth R-9A buildable metal model, depicting the player ship from the game and measuring approximately 10 cm in total length.

The unassembled kit consists of five metal sheets for the owner to assemble, and is intended for ages 14 and up.

For this Used edition, physical extras are included only when present with the copy supplied.
