Humanity embarks on a new journey: a vast space adventure begins
The team behind God Wars presents a new generation of robot strategy RPG.
Relayer is an entirely new simulation RPG from the development team of the God Wars series, acclaimed by tactical RPG fans.
Its battle system centers on Mech Types and Jobs that define each unit's characteristics, together with Hate, which makes the likelihood of being targeted by enemies visible. These systems provide a high degree of freedom and strategic depth.
Special attacks include the wide-area finishing move Big Bang and the pincer attack Backstab. Beautiful 3D models also bring its battle cutscenes and fully 3D stage maps to life.
Story
Humanity was not alone.
In the year 2049 of the stellar calendar, humanity finally encounters mysterious extraterrestrial beings called Relayers.
At the same time, discoveries from an ancient galactic civilization set destiny in motion for humans awakened to special powers: the Star Children.
In stellar year 2051, two women meet in Artemis, a residential colony built on Earth's moon. Their encounter opens the story of the Star Children and the Relayers.
Welcome to an immense space-adventure world woven by humanity and ancient galactic beings who personify stars and Greek gods.
Earth in 2051 is a world where humanity's expansion into outer space has begun in earnest, even as the planet faces invasion by the mysterious Relayers.
Alongside the Relayers' appearance come the Star Children and the legacy of an ancient galactic civilization believed to have perished despite its advanced technology.
Command Stellar Gear, new humanoid weapons built by analyzing that civilization's technology, and the experimental interstellar vessel Asterism, developed using its supergravity technology. Confront the Relayer invasion that threatens Earth.
Approximately one hundred beautiful battle cutscenes
Battle cutscenes offer around one hundred variations, including special presentations when units equipped with the same kind of weapon face one another.
Choose among normal, fast and very fast playback speeds, or switch to simplified battles. These options provide comfortable strategy RPG play.
Mech Types define each unit's role
Four Mech Types appear: Assault, Tank, Snipe and Scout.
Assault units fight on the front line and specialize in close-range attacks. Tanks specialize in defense and are the only type able to equip shields.
Snipe units operate from the middle ranks, specializing in gunfire. Scouts support from the rear with buffs, debuffs and healing.
Hate determines how easily enemies target you
Hate is a numerical value indicating how likely a unit is to be attacked. Higher values attract enemies' attention; lower values make a unit less likely to be targeted.
Enemies choose their attacks mainly according to Hate, while also considering HP to a lesser extent. Control Hate to concentrate enemy attacks on a particular ally.
Only Scouts can summon a Decoy, a lure with a high Hate value.
Special attacks turn battles in your favor
Assault and Tank units can trigger Backstab when they surround an enemy in a pincer attack.
Scouts and Snipe units can perform Overkill, which has a chance of defeating an enemy in one blow regardless of its remaining HP.
Big Bang consumes the Big Bang Gauge and unleashes a finishing technique powerful enough to transform the course of battle.
Star Cubes form the heart of character development
Characters develop through the Star Cube system, learning the varied jobs assigned to their Mech Type.
Jobs have beginner, intermediate and advanced tiers, with five jobs available according to Mech Type. Two routes branch when advancing from beginner to intermediate.
After completing the advanced tier, you can select the other route. Unlocking every Star Cube in a job opens a new job.
Distinctive skills
Use Job Points earned in battle to unlock Star Cubes and acquire abilities, increasing character parameters and making skills available.
Passive skills remain active continuously, while active skills are selected and triggered.
Characters have their own unique skills, as well as general-purpose skills available through the selected job. Both become usable by unlocking Star Cubes.
Customize mechs through equipment and modification
Mechs can equip six categories of weapon: one-handed swords, two-handed swords, machine guns, rifles, bits and shields.
Other equipment includes armor, which chiefly affects defense, and Custom Chips with a variety of special effects.
Weapons can also be improved through modification at the shop. Modifications consume Star Gold, abbreviated SG.
Free PlayStation 5 upgrade
The physical PlayStation 4 edition can be upgraded to the PlayStation 5 version at no additional cost.
This physical-edition upgrade requires a PlayStation 5 with a disc drive. A Digital Edition console without a disc drive cannot use it.
