Don't let this tragedy devour you

The Resident Evil series returns in RE:2. This fear, this tension, this quality—the survival-horror masterpiece that captivated the world has been rebuilt and brought back to life.

What is Resident Evil 2?

The original Resident Evil 2 was released in 1998 and sold more than 4.96 million copies.

Its setting expanded from the closed mansion of the first game to depict a pandemic. This blockbuster secured its enduring popularity within the series and established a world in which biological weapons pose a threat.

A RE:2 that keeps surpassing your imagination

The fear, the tension and the quality of this world-famous survival-horror masterpiece return, renewed.

The immersive terror of being devoured—zombies at their most frightening

Driven by ravenous hunger, they instinctively sink in their teeth, tear their victims apart and devour them.

The over-the-shoulder view makes their fangs bear down on the player with an even more immediate sense of danger.

A meticulously reimagined world and a rebuilt Raccoon City

The characters and background environments have been reimagined from the ground up.

A familiar yet entirely new tragedy of terror begins.

September 1998—a major pandemic breaks out in the streets of Raccoon City.

Rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy heads toward the Raccoon City Police Department. At the same time, college student Claire Redfield makes her way into the city.

The two encounter streets filled with the living dead: an unmistakable vision of hell...

Leon

A rookie officer at the Raccoon City Police Department.

Shortly before his first day, he was told to wait at home. When no further contact came, he decided to head to the station anyway.

His arrival in Raccoon City, several days late, will change his destiny.

Claire

A college student who visits Raccoon City to check on her brother, a member of the special forces.

Caught in the pandemic, Claire resolves to overcome every obstacle and make it out alive.

Extra game: The 4th Survivor

The protagonist is HUNK, a member of Umbrella's special operations forces.

As its title suggests, the original game depicted his survival as the fourth survivor of Raccoon City. Can HUNK make it out alive in RE:2 as well?

Extra game: The Tofu Survivor

A mysterious figure who speaks in a suspicious Kansai dialect takes center stage in this extra game.

In the original, its comical appearance concealed a surprisingly high level of difficulty. Is this creature firm tofu, or silken?

The Ghost Survivors

If events had unfolded just a little differently, perhaps they could have escaped alive.

This extra content turns the gears of fate back a little to revisit three people who lost their lives in Raccoon City—a special forces soldier, the mayor's daughter and a gun-shop owner—and explore their imagined alternative destinies.
