A school mystery with heavy suspense
Shinso Noise: The Receiving Detective's Case Files comes to PlayStation 4 as a youth mystery and suspense adventure created through DMM Games' collaboration between two major PC game makers, Liar-soft and Silky's Plus.
Its substantial story combines school life with serious deduction and mystery, presented through the high-resolution graphics of PlayStation 4.
“I killed them…”
Youth drama and a compelling mystery
Liar-soft's scenario staff weave a school-based coming-of-age story together with weighty suspense and authentic deduction, creating a rewarding read.
Character concepts and original artwork are by Kunio Hamashima, while Silky's Plus handles the graphic coloring and backgrounds. High-quality visuals bring the story's world to life.
The game's cases are not simply handed to you: examine the clues provided, make your own deductions and uncover the truth to experience the satisfaction of solving a mystery.
The protagonist and his friends are distinctive, appealing characters. Their youth unfolds through lively, friendly moments as well as serious ones.
Story
Shizunomiya is a commuter town near a major metropolis. Its urban side is reasonably developed, with many city landmarks, while rich natural surroundings remain toward the sea.
At Shizunomiya Academy in the town's center, sports club members use the nearby large park for running. Students without club activities head toward the city and enjoy the kind of recreation typical of their age after school.
Kazuma Tachibana entered the academy this spring. He possesses the ability to receive other people's thoughts and mental impressions.
Being able to understand another person's mind might sound useful, but his ability is incomplete: he cannot tell which consciousness belongs to whom, and when several people are present, their thoughts arrive mixed together.
Although he was born with this power, he cannot control it completely. The intentions of others sometimes flood into him against his will and leave him at their mercy. Nevertheless, he trains every day to improve his control and somehow manages an ordinary school life.
Shizunomiya Academy organizes students into activity groups that take part in various events together throughout the year. Students may hope to spend a pleasant year with congenial companions, but the members are mercilessly chosen by drawing lots.
Kazuma, who struggles with social relationships, finds himself surrounded by particularly distinctive people:
- Sakura Yukimoto, quiet and cool.
- Moeka Momozono, naturally absent-minded and dreamy.
- Natsuki Kazama, cheerful and exceptionally athletic.
- Saya Kurotsuki, a self-proclaimed psychic.
- Yuriko Otori, a beautiful member of the drama club.
- Yoichi Kitagami, good at sports but weak academically.
- Shunta Takanaga, whose thoughts focus entirely on being popular.
The eight do not come together as a cohesive unit. They maintain only the minimum contact required of people in the same activity group, while still carrying out activities together.
Then a theft occurs in the girls' changing room. It becomes Kazuma Tachibana's first case—the beginning of the student who will later be called the Receiving Detective.
Listen to voices within
The protagonist can receive the mental impressions of others. Listening to different people's inner voices reveals feelings they normally keep hidden.
Sometimes you can pick up words that lead toward solving a case.
Deduction sections
Solving each case requires progressing through its deduction section. Use the scene's layout, conversations you have heard and inner voices as clues.
Unravel the different mysteries and guide the investigation toward a solution.
The PlayStation 4 presentation
The game supports PlayStation 4's high-resolution display, letting you experience the story with more beautiful graphics.
