A new strategy RPG from Square Enix

The DioField Chronicle is a strategy RPG featuring deep, strategic Real-Time Tactical Battle, in which the tide of battle can change in an instant.

Beautiful graphics portray a distinctive world blending fantasy, medieval influences, and the modern age, together with a substantial story. The battlefields combine realistic presentation with a diorama-like texture, balancing realism and clarity.

Enjoy field battles that unfold in real time and a military chronicle set on the island of DioField.

The creative team

Alongside Square Enix's production team, the game brings together character designer Taiki, known for Lord of Vermilion III and IV; concept artist Isamu Kamikokuryo, known for Final Fantasy XII and XIII; and composers Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell, known for Game of Thrones.

An age of turmoil after the end of the age of myth

In a corner of the war-torn continent of Rowetale, a bandit founded a country. Calling itself the Schoevian Empire, it used disciplined troops and weapons known as modern magic to rapidly gain control of the continent's northwest.

Alarmed by the Empire's advance, the other countries formed the Rowetale Alliance, but suffered repeated defeats and steadily lost territory.

While the continent endured fierce warfare, one country stood across the water from the conflict: the Kingdom of Orutina, which united DioField, an island off the continent's northwestern coast.

The continental war abruptly reached a stalemate when the powerful Verma Federation entered the conflict on the Alliance's side. With neither the Empire nor the Alliance able to strike a decisive blow, local battles intensified over jade, a resource needed for modern magic.

Both the Empire and the Alliance's countries suddenly turned their attention to DioField, beneath whose soil jade was said to lie. The Kingdom of Orutina, a land protected by the ancient beast Orgas, was about to become a battlefield.

Andrias Rhondarson

“Yes. This is the end.”

One of the four leaders of the Blue Fox mercenary company. He is calm, composed, and exceptionally resourceful.

As a child, he caught the attention of a noble who recognized his potential. After being trained as a soldier, he became attendant and bodyguard to the fourth prince, Levantia Shayfam.

Fredret Lester

“Everyone! Lend me your strength so we can lead this country onto the right path!”

One of the four leaders of the Blue Fox mercenary company and the eldest son of the middle-ranking noble Lester family.

He and Andrias are close allies who have faced deadly situations together since childhood and share a strong bond. His straightforward, sincere nature often earns him the people's affection, but when his emotions run high, he can lose sight of what is happening around him.

Iscarion Colchester

“If someone were nearby, perhaps I could reach out and help more people.”

One of the four leaders of the Blue Fox mercenary company and the heir to the lesser noble Colchester family.

As a teenager, he belonged to a nearby order of knights, but left following an incident. Afterward, he called himself a free knight and began traveling alone through the kingdom.

He keeps some distance from others and has a distinctive, easygoing manner. Yet he is kind enough that he cannot abandon the vulnerable, which readily earns him his subordinates' affection.

Waltaquin Redditch

“If you show me something like that, I won't be able to hold back...”

One of the four leaders of the Blue Fox mercenary company and a daughter of the noble Redditch family.

Perhaps because she grew up as the daughter of one of South Field's leading noble families, she often behaves selfishly. Nevertheless, she possesses an elegance and intelligence she cannot conceal, as well as natural beauty.

How the game progresses

Throughout the story, various people bring requests to the mercenary company. Accepting one leads to a field battle. Prepare at your base by organizing and strengthening your forces, then receive a briefing explaining the operation before heading to the battlefield.

Complete the assigned missions to earn various rewards. Use them at your base to improve equipment and strengthen weapons and class skills as the story advances.
