Psycho-Pass Virtue and Vice 2 — Stage Play

The second stage adaptation of the popular anime Psycho-Pass comes to Blu-ray!

About Psycho-Pass The Psycho-Pass anime series depicts police officers confronting questions of justice in a near future where people's psychological states are quantified. The television anime began in Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block, reaching its third season in 2019. Under the Psycho-Pass Next Project, a trilogy of animated films was released in three consecutive months starting January 25, 2019, followed by a special edited theatrical release in 2020. The series has maintained a devoted following and received an enthusiastic response. The stage production Psycho-Pass Virtue and Vice is a spin-off featuring original characters in Division Three of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Department. Its first production, staged in April 2019, was written for the stage by anime series screenwriter Makoto Fukami. This second production is a prequel depicting the past of Hiro Kano.

Story One day, Hiro Kano, an Enforcer in the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Department, receives an appointment from Bureau Chief Kasei and is promoted to Inspector in an unprecedented move. At the same time, a body stuffed into a suitcase is delivered to the Bureau. It bears a mysterious message: “Do not overlook the trolley problem.” Division Three, led by Kano and formed from newly assigned Enforcers, begins investigating before its members have found their footing as a team. Friction among them steadily grows. Tracing the shipment reveals that an independent settlement cut off from Sibyl society is connected to the case. Known as NND, the Special Autonomous Region Neo Nature Division is inhabited by people who advocate a return to nature. Kano takes the Enforcers there to investigate, but clashes fiercely with Tsukasa Shinguji, a member of the organisation maintaining order in the special district. Believing Shinguji holds the key to the case, Kano pursues the investigation forcefully. Government pressure prevents him from progressing as he wishes. Gradually, the darkness of NND emerges, with competing interests and intentions intricately entangled. What is the trolley problem? What does the mysterious body signify? What is Shinguji's objective? Eventually, Kano reaches an answer...
